Alissa has been a practicing metalsmith for eight years, with her primary focus in jewelry and small objects. Her artistic interest in drawing, illustration, and the exploration of material language were informed by a childhood living and working alongside her family of makers. Her work focuses on the various manifestations of heritage and navigation and uses a spectrum of materials in addition to metal. Alissa is a meticulous maker who has shown her work nationally and internationally including a two-person exhibition with Timothy McMahon at Brooklyn Metalworks, and at Gallery Marzee, in Nijmegen, the Netherlands. She has been assisting classes at Fritz and Friends since Fall of 2013, and works part-time at Smith Shop and Re:View Contemporary Gallery in Detroit. Alissa received her BFA from Western Michigan University her MFA from Cranbrook Academy of Art.
