Amy Weiks

Amy has been teaching at Fritz and Friends since 2012. Amy began her art career as a photographer before studying printmaking at the Glasgow School of Art in Glasgow, Scotland. She discovered metalsmithing in 2004 and incorporated it into her diverse technical skill set. In 2012 she co-founded Smith Shop - a collaborative craft-centric metalworking studio in Corktown, Detroit - with her husband and fellow metalsmith Gabriel Craig. Amy has shown her artwork nationally and internationally including exhibitions at the Houston Center for Contemporary Craft in Houston, TX, The Bellevue Arts Museum in Bellevue, WA, and Galerie Marzee in Nijmegen, Netherlands. She also recently premiered a solo exhibition at Velvet da Vinci, a noted jewelry gallery in San Francisco, CA. Amy received her BFA from Western Michigan University her MFA from Cranbrook Academy of Art. You can see some of her work on her website and more of what she does at
