Keum-Boo is an ancient Korean gilding technique allowing gold foil to bond with other metals by means of heat and pressure. In this two day workshop, students will learn the processes of Keum-Boo and Depletion Gilding. Materials provided will allow students to fabricate a silver ring or pendant of their choosing. Students can sign up for either a full day (attending both an afternoon and evening) -or- sign up for one time slot, and come both days.
Experience: Must have basic sawing, filing, and soldering skills.
Students will receive:
3 x 3" sheet 20g Sterling Silver and 3 x 3/4" sheet of 23.5K yellow Gold foil
Cotton gloves, leather gloves, steel or quartz burnisher, tweezers, x-acto knife, 0/2 saw blades, medium & easy solder
